Cast Aside the Clouds (Filmmakers in Attendance for Q&A)

Following sold-out screenings across North America, CAST ASIDE THE CLOUDS comes to Vancouver’s historic Park Theatre for a special screening and Q&A with the cast and filmmakers.

Set in present-day Tehran, CAST ASIDE THE CLOUDS is a moving love story about two young people divided by faith, family expectations, and the prejudices of the society around them.

Layla Khosravi is a young Bahá’í woman barred from attending university because of her faith. Sasan Naderi is an ambitious Muslim doctor preparing to leave Iran and advance his career in Germany. When a violent attack brings them together, an unexpected love begins to grow.

Like Romeo and Juliet, the response of their families will test their determination to be together. But when the Iranian authorities bring Layla’s world crashing down, it appears that she may lose not only Sasan, but her freedom and perhaps even her life.

Inspired by the continuing persecution of Iran’s Bahá’í community, CAST ASIDE THE CLOUDS is ultimately a story of courage, resilience, and the power of love to overcome deeply rooted prejudice.

Shot in Athens and set in Tehran, the film features an international cast led by Iranian-Canadian actors Parmiss Sehat and Behtash Fazlali, with Anthony Azizi and Shirin Youssefian Maanian.

Awards include Best Director, Best International Feature, Best Drama, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing at international film festivals.

Q&A with the cast and filmmakers following the screening.
